Last year, when I tried to do this on one of my toons, it seemed that I was a special target so that I could not complete the achieve. Then I transferred that toon from to a new server to play with friends and that achieve is now gone. No way am I doing this all over again.

As I recall last year you didn't have to have the orphan out, as long as you had the quest. Hopefully that hasn't changed.

The great part about children's week is that it brings all kinds of alliance carebears into my battlegrounds and they are all in full PVE gear with zero resilience

Pretty funny, I didn't realize it was childrens week and I was in an AV. Got yelled at by defending a tower, qq insued, and here I was just trying to play the game as intended

Look Tep, here are some real pointers.


#1. the Battle Map. I say this over and over, but if you press "shift-m", a little map will appear in your lower right hand corner. (by default, and the shift-m is default also)

With this, you can see what towers are still ally controlled (blue), which are still horde controlled(orange/red), which have been destroyed(grey), and your current position.

#2. You probably have DBM already, but do you have the PVP mod part enabled? This will tell you the time until destruction of both allied and horde towers. Nothing wrong with heading to one that is about to topple, in order to get your "capture" done.

#3. from the start, follow a group. If your PVP gear is lacking, do what you can to help others...heals, CC, but stay with a group.

#4. Once you are in a tower, waiting out the timer, stay alert. Lay down cc or AOE constantly on stairways, or doorways...Remember that you only have to stay alive long enough for the time to expire. Run, jump out of windows, run back inside, attack people trying to recap the flag..anything you can do to get that timer to zero.

If a tower is destroyed already, it can't be assaulted, correct? Also, I have to be the one to clicky on the flag to get the assault credit for the achievment, so I don't think just being in the area does it. I'm unclear on this timer thing... can you explain that more? I've never been able to intuitively understand what is going on when people ask about timers. But as far as I know, I have to actually "win" the race to clicky the flag, don't I ??

Actually last night in AV and Warsong Gulch, both sides worked together with no outside coordination other than orphans being out, and got the achievements for everyone before we started killing on each other.

I suspect you take negativity with you wherever you go, but feel free to blame the community if it makes you feel better.

Once a tower is destroyed, it will be on fire,(grey on the map) and there will be one less Lieutenant with either Drek or Vann. No, these cannot be assaulted again.

Timers: Once a flag is clicked, it takes 3 minutes for the tower to "burn". This gives a chance for defenders to get to that tower, and "save it", by taking back the flag. DBM will put this "timer" on your screen somewhere, if you have it set up to do so.

I would have to look at the quest itself, to see if "retaking" a tower counts as a "capture"...honor wise it counts as a "defended"...

If you have to be the one to click the flag, I honestly suggest running all the way to the enemy base, and go for one of those two towers. Many in your group will stop to kill Galv/Balinda..and many times no one defends the home base right at the start. You might just get lucky enough to get there and get an undefended cap.

This is easier if you are Alliance, as the horde guards cannot see you when clicking on the flag...If you are Horde, you are going to have to kill some guards before capping. (unless you are a rogue/druid, then you can stealth up to the North tower, stand in a very specific place, and cap the flag without aggro-ing the guards.)
