I fondly remember meeting up with Hemit Nesingwary in STV back in old school classic days. I quickly got the reference and figured out the anagram of Earnest Hemingway's name which prompted me to look him up online and learn about this crazy dude.

Also, "Colonel Kurzen" is a reference to Apocalypse Now's "Colonel Kurtz" where he is hiding out in a cave building his own army for his own reasons. Good stuff.

On Auremyst Isle in the early Draenei zones, in the village of Azure Watch, is a General Goods seller named Otonambusi. He can be seen preparing a plate of fish. During this he says "How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your fish?"
A reference to the Pink Floyd song, "Another Brick in the Wall". In the song a man shouts "How can you have any pudding, if you don't eat your meat?"
I was just selling some stuff to him, and there it was a nice little surprise. It made me smile.

Hemet Nesingwary is also good. Aren't there som other people with him that also have anagrams of authors? I seem to remember having seen that somewhere.

I was amused the time I noticed the hatch on an island in Sholazar Basin with the number sequence from the show Lost on it. I believe the numbers were + or -1 from the original sequence used in the show.

In Grizzly Hills, you can find Bambina and a group of animals associated with the story of Bambi. If you follow them around, a hunter will show up and kill a deer, which enrages Bambina who kills the hunter. It's quite comical.

Not really an easter egg, but sort of.

The quest "The Relics Emanation" in Blades Edge Mountain is an in-game version of Simon Says. Probably one of the most difficult quests in the game without using a mod or writing stuff down.

WoW has way too many "easter eggs", most of them pretty dumb. Cataclysm is plagued with sh!tty pop culture references.

One of my favorites though was the Captured Firely pet, farmable by Bogflare Needlers in Zangarmarsh. It said "still flying...".
Of course it was removed with the making of pets into spells.

General cult characters like Kaylee from Firefly.

I am not certain but there was one from Robotech (the americanized anime version of Macross) in Cataclysm. It was in that submarine that brings you to the underwater cave. I could have swarn the draneicaptain said a memorable tagline.

Those are real easter eggs insider stuff.
For one, the Captain in the anime was russian so he spoke in that cool accent similar to the Bahhtlekruzer rrreportink of Starcraft.
