It's hard to get past the graphics and the engine in general of SWG. It was pretty bad for its time, let alone nearly a decade later.

To be honest, if you give SWG a fresh look with somewhat of a clean slate, I think you would like it. You can set up the UI to play like MMORPG's and not first person (was crucial for me).
I leveled up a character, actually I should check it out also I didn't quite hit max yet. ;p
Was pretty fun, kind of sandboxish, people are pretty nice.
Oh yes I know, I played it after the "big changes"

LOTRO: Lifetime account, playing very casually.
WoW: Both accounts canceled for now.
GW2: Future Warrior.

While I spun up AC for another go around I doubt I will be playing more than a month. The idea of grinding (and its a grind regardless of how many "do this quest for X million xp" you do) to get to the new content just does non enthrall me. Getting from one to fifty is pretty much handed to you. Still its the grind to 150 where the game is now and honestly you want 180+
Just not something I am willing to do. When asking people for suggestions far too many come back with Vtank
So I will await GW2. I might poke my head in WOW again once I am eligible for a SoR

well, if you're looking for an MMO and can't decide my suggestion is try out the free to play games.
games like lord of the rings, D&D, runes of magic, requiem, world of tanks
the great thing here is even if they only keep you entertained for a couple weeks or even if you hate it right off the bat yo didn't invest anything other than the time to DL/Install and sign up for an account.
edit: also realise you won't get the same quality as out of a game like WOW but it doesnt mean the games are bad. I enjoyed LOTRO for a litle bit, runes of magic i found fun for a couple months while wow was boring me, requiem lasted maybe 2-3 weeks but i was only playing it with a couple people from my guild who were also playing it(i stopped because they were so far ahead of me and there was more to do in wow so it just didn't last) no they weren't wow but they were fun and they cost me nothing to play them.

Champions Online is also pretty entertaining for a while. (And free)

Just wait for Guild Wars 2
-no main healer class......... pvp will be about the fighter and not who is getting healed more. defense will actually matter.
-world event system ..........(no quests)
-an actual charater story line with choices .... (think fable)
-Server Vs Server Vs Server battle area. (think darkageofcamelot RVR)

Yep, this is an example of how we as gamers want things different, are tired of the same old formula, but when someone does something different, we are wary of it without even trying it - because it is different.
