Alright, I know I'm in for a world of grief from the leet posters of the VN Boards for this ;-)

That's ok, I'm going to ask it anyway: I want to know which is the easiest class to play PVP.

I don't mean which is the best class in skilled hands. I never played pvp until 2 days ago and I want to start with a class that I can avoid looking totally sucky with as soon as possible.

For reference, I already tried frost mage, which everyone seems to think is awesome, but I totally sucked at it (so far, anyway). So, if the answer is, "Frost mage", or if the answer is, "They're all easy", then I guess the advice I was given in a Battleground about 30 minutes ago was right: "Get the f*** out of this game!"

:-)

Depends on what you want to do really. And you can't be successful in PvP without the gear at this point. Resilience is a must. Skill can make up for it to an extent but completely.

Nasty heals - druids, shammies, holy pally done right.

Awesome CC - frost mage.

Point and shoot - hunter, I like BM personally for fun but get better numbers with SV.

Face smashing meelee - Warriors.

If you just want some survivability with decent damage then try a blood DK.

It comes down to knowing how to PvP as well as knowing how to play your class however, PvP works differently than PvE. Practice, the more you do it, the more you pay attentiont ow hat works and what doesn't, the better you'll get.

And if you just started...what level are you? Let me tell you the lower level BG's are a mess. Mostly clueless with a handful of twinks. They're a pain imo. And frankly if you go in there with a few peices of quest gear that you've accumulated while leveling you'll get rolled. Repeatedly.

Thanks for that.

I'm playing level 85 - that's the only level I want to PVP at.

With my frost mage my gear is a mixture of the crafted PVP and vicious stuff, with resilience about 3k. Many players are killing me in 2-3 seconds. Don't seem to be able to keep anyone frozen long enough to damage them much. I'm sure I need more practice, but I wonder whether there's a better class to start off with.

Find a pocket healer? If you're running solo in a BG it's tough imo. I usually run with at least one buddy. Or if I'm solo on my heals I ask in /bg chat who wants a pocket healer and then I stick to them like glue. If theyr'e good, I'll keep them up and they'll kill the guys who are trying to kill me.

My frost mage is only lvl 21 Clueless on how to play them. Try checking out arena junkies maybe for pointers. Or find a killer frost mage and shadow him. Use recount or something to see what spells he's using.

DK is a good starting class for PVP. Yeah, don't start with frost mage.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
/north /north *You encounter an [Avatar of the god Set]!*
/cast sheild *sheild spell unavailable*
/csat shield *csat: unknown command*
*[Avatar of Set] beheads [Peasant]*

I agree plus I seem to have the most fun/success PVPing on my Unholy caster killer DK.

Frost mages totally rule... but it requires a semblance of understanding how/when/what to do to be even the slightest bit competitive!

If you want to be treated nicely, I would definately recommend going healer... I've played Priest for quite some time, but recently been trying out shammie - the former had a lot of survivability, but could be locked down quite easily IMO... the shammie has a lot more survivability and is great as flag carrier or support for someone - but a bit similir to the mage in that it takes a while to become good at playing one.

Healers also make the difference between winning/losing more than anything else... (barring a good tactic)

Unfortunately, you mention getting pwned quickly, but without decent gear it is going to happen pretty much regardless of class. Perhaps pick a plate class which won't succomb to mellee attacks so quickly.

CLARIFICATION - in PVP only! get treated like dirt if something goes wrong in PVE, but generally I don't think I have ever had a bad experience in PVP when healing.

Nice clarification!

I've seen so many healers treated horribly in PUGs. No one ever talks crap to me though, probably has something to do with me being freaking amazing at healing. Plus I'll simply not heal your ass and laugh while you die if you wanna be a dick, even the tank.
