Can anyone reccomend how long it takes in playing hours to get all the top level PVE gear and if there are any guides out there on how to do this? Thanks!

Just determining the hours needed won't work ... you need to count into the unknown variables of raiding.


You have to be top level, and geared before you'll ever be considered being invited into anything other that a "trash mob" run.


And even longer before you'll be considered "adequate" to get into real raiding runs.

It depends on how much of a life you want. It would also depend on your contacts with raiding guilds within the game.

Assuming you're starting from Level 1 and your end goal is a complete set of ilvl 391, I'd say 3-4 months if you have no life and can streamline your raid schedule, experienced players and raid lockouts.

Don't do it. If this is your goal, you are essentially signing a long-term, multi-party contract. By the end you'll be chewing on razor blades to ease the pain.

You are in a contract first with Blizzard:

- Raid lockouts and a $15/month subscription means they will do all they can to keep you raiding "just a little bit longer." When Blizzard loses raiders to boredom or summertime/sunshine, they are cutting into their profits. They will do everything to keep you on this treadmill.
- They will release new gear as soon as you accomplish your goal thereby negating the previous months of effort.
- etc.

You are in a contract with your guild:

- You need at least 9 or 24 other players with an IQ higher than 90 in order to successfully complete raids in WoW. This may sound like an easy task but they are NOT every guild out there. Choose wisely.
- You may have to play with people you can't stand to accomplish your goal of gear.
- Once you are accepted by them you need to weasel your way on the raid schedule. You must be there or you won't be taken again. Drop family, drop work, have your wife squeeze for a few more hours... I mean come on... she's only 8cm dilated.
- You'll need to deal with their either fair or unfair loot distribution system. Hopefully you researched this prior to any bosses dying.
- You need to be lucky. My druid got geared literally in weeks. My warrior wasn't so lucky.

taking into account the randomness of raiding, I would say 3-4 months is a minimum assuming you are already max lvl and starting to raid in an established guild.

if you are joining a new guild, double that for them to learn the fights.

I would say 6 to 8 months, depending on how lucky you are with drops and the guild you join.

I don't think you could do it to be honest, there so much to learn,it's better to wait for an expansion than play 6 months after content is completed.

Wow is quite old now, theres a lot of better games coming out on the market,most of blizzard has moved over to diablo 3, Warcraft is going downhill.

You will never reach top level because as soon as you get this months top levels Blizz will introduce a new raid. Sure you may get to claim you are at the current top level for a little bit but don't count on it staying that way.

But you will have the thrill of figuring out the new raids or the thrill of googling them to learn the techniques.

T1 - jiggle right when boss does this
T2 - jiggle left when boss does that
T3 - Pause dps when boss does that other thing.
etc

You can never attain top level gear in WoW. As soon as you do Blizztard releases a higher level tier and completely negates the months of your life you wasted getting the previous level "top" gear.

3days /played 1-85, 3 days /played to gain the proper item level to be effective in FL, and a month or 2 to get BiS in FL if your guild allows you every drop AND your BiS actually drops. How? Play the game. Profit.

Wait until the next expansion, quest for greens, and have better gear than anything in Cata.
