Im on the fence still with D3. Was excited for it about 2 years, but now not sure if I will play the game with the direction they are headed in. Hopefully a beta invite will allow me to try it out

If you liked the original, you will love this.

How is the storytelling aspect? That is actually what truly interests me.

I LOVED the original, hated D2, so this will be one I will like?

And yeah, with blizzard making WoW even simpler than D1, I cannot imagine that D3 will be all that complex.

Which is actually perfect, because I just want to log in, kill shite, and get stuff!

I am getting old and the simple stuff is WAY more fun now.

If the rest of the game is anything like the piece of Act I you get to play then it should be good.

Besides NPC's talking and telling you things, you find scrolls/books around that are voiced, so you can listen to it while you continue to play.

There's also a "scene" of ghosts with Lachdanan and you see how things went down with Leoric and him.

Believe it or not, Diablo story is pretty deep. You have to read the books to get the entire effect, but you can look up the entire story on various Diablo Wiki's out there.

It is presented through audio logs, in-game engine "cut scenes", movies, etc.

Also, the story for the original two Diablo's is notable for the fact that only two characters are memorable (Tyreal and Decard Cain). Blizzard said they are trying hard to change that as there will be a new trilogy in the series after Diablo 3 is done.

If you got spare cash to blow on a book, the Book of Cain is pretty awesome.

I bought two because it's so cool
