Yes, everything *can* be tracked. That doesn't mean it is. Can you imagine the resources it would take to keep track of every single gold transaction in the game? I honestly don't believe they track gold transactions. If they did, they would have no problem at all identifying gold sellers.

They seemed to cut down quite a bit on gold sellers on my various servers, but as of May/11 I think it was $3-4/1k gold, and like savings for multiples of 5 or 10, like $9 for 5k, $12 for 10k, etc. Due to how easy it was to get gold when Cata came out, by my guess, the ratio should be under $1 per 1k gold by now.

In a modern system there is no real issue in collecting and storing every transaction and conversation.
The real problem is, having the tools to make good use of that collected information
