What is that saying about one being born every minute? The next WOW expansion will be the same dull WoW crap.

It could be, but why are people suckers for that? If that is what you want, then great. It is only "dull" to people who over played though. Myself, I will be there again. I do like that they are mixing things up though for the new expansion pack. The scenario idea might be enough to keep me hooked for longer than Cataclysm hooked me.

Fair enough, but I am not gettting back on the WoW treadmill, but then again I haven't been on it much for any of the expansions.

If it is still fun, how does that make you a sucker though? It is not like $15 is ANY amount of money these days for monthly entertainment.

Plus the $35-55 dollars for the license for the expansion.

I get that you "worked" hard for you shinies... but I don't want to "Work" when I play the game! Give me a server where you can have any PVP gear by buying it from a vendor and let the ego's battle it out on the treadmill.

So where do you get the gold to buy these shineys? Your going to have to get on the treamill at some point, or do you want to use real money for it?

As long as there are new zones to quest in, and the LFD & LFR still function in MoP, it will keep my entertained enough for me to buy it.

I might even try tanking or healing again (did the DPS thing for Cata lol) to speed up my queues.

the problem has been, their dull WOW crap still is a four star restaurant's steak and lobster compared to what the competition offers. Oh sure I have seen some nice presentations, the meal looks good, but when you sink your teeth in you find that there are fillers and cheap cuts made to get out the door. Yes WOW has its issues, Cata changes to healing and health pools were one of the worst hacks I have seen in a vain attempt to reign in the fact that gear rules that game and gear therefor breaks any balance offered. The problem with having rather permanently quit wow (having your bnet account deleted does that well) is that I try out all these other games only to realize, damn, can't anyone make combat feel as if I am in control of my character? Other than AC or WOW I haven't ever found a combat system that felt "NOW".

Watched way too many Tera streams to have any interest in the game. SWTOR was so abysmally bad I don't even bother. RIFT had potential but leveling was a chore as zone choices were rigid and the sheer number of abilities made the game laughable (worse most people macro'd them in decreasing cool down order and were as effective if not more so than those who didn't). Guild Wars 2 claim to fame, that of striking down the holy trinity, seems little more than a false claim to hide from the truth that long term there may not be enough population to form good groups the trinity requires.

Still I will definitely try GW2, it is the first game in a long time that seems to promise the ability to be anywhere and feel as if your in the wrong place. That scaling of level/ability looks like it will keep even low level areas interesting and worth seeing.

I think you are pretty much setting yourself up for failure if you are judging your opinion of any MMO based on graphics. 3/4 of your listed reason for why WoW is going in the 'right direction' were visual reasons only. Even your comment on the level 90 abilities was based on how they 'look'.

Graphics do not make an MMO, nor an MMO expansion!

Well I didn't post all the reasons for brevity. But I feel the expansion pack has some worthy features like 2 new PVP zones, fun class (monk DPS/tank/healer), large AE affect L90 spells/abilities that will alter the dynamic of PVP/PVE, new loot system for raid finder, scenarios, etc.

None of this is revolutionary, it's just more of the same. It's not that I think WoW will be radically better than other upcoming MMOs, it's just that I've had to eliminate other MMOs using my own process of elimination and WoW is what I'm left with.

Exactly. The problem is that most other companies struggle heavily trying to figure out to put REALLY simple and basic MMO concepts together in a functional, logical and coherent way. There's a plethora of things required for an MMO to succeed and shine, and most companies don't have a freaking clue as to what all these requirements are. I think it may also have to do with how MMOS are assembled bit by bit, by different teams; there might be a lack of oversight as to how the end product will end up being like.

The slightest flaws can doom an MMO, things like a slow graphical engine, poor networking code, a buggy or exploited game, laggy servers, etc etc. Even if the product is technically competent, that's only half of the battle. The other important part is to actually make sure they offer a COMPELLING product. This is why we don't get many great MMOs I guess..

And that is fine. I just returned after a 12-14 month absence myself. I was totally sick of WoW, but staying away since last January or February, made it somewhat fresh.

Actually, my WoW history has gone like that since it came out. Play 6 months, quit a year, play 6-9 months, quit a year, come back, etc, etc.

As I said above, I like MoP because it is offering some new features that could be very interesting. We will see.

One thing I CAN tell you is that every other MMO has sickened me after 30 days because they are too similar to WoW. RIFT? SWTOR? Aion? You name it, all play like WoW and have lasted only a short while before I get tired of them. THis is also why I think Guild Wars 2 will be mediocre to me.

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.
