The Board Merge comes next week |
The VN Boards, as you know and see them now, will be gone. Certain boards, which Mithan named and I repeated here, should merge or transfer over and to IGN's boards.

Lets face it MMO's are big business and Blizzard is about the biggest fish in it thus go to great lengths to protect its image.
It could be that Blizzard whom do have their PR tentacles wrapped all over places like MMO Champ, WoWhead etc... and exercise more than a modicum of control over post-able content just can't stand rogue sites like VN which they are basically helpless as to what its users post about them or their games.
This merge may simply be Blizzard doing some tentacle wrapping and removing a pain in their PR backside.

I doubt it. It's all about traffic and games that are currently active. Look at the all the boards here that are unused, no posts in years or have one guy posting news once a week (Anarchy Online). Take a look at the archived boards. DEAD.
The WoW and SWTor boards are the only ones that get some traffic, along with the ACF and Daoc community type boards. That's it. Less than 10 boards have activity out of probably 100 or more.
It's all about money. Keeping these boards running is not worth it for IGN and Blizzard, Bioware/EA/Mythic, Sony, CCP, Funcom and others have their own boards.

I'm on a board now that's very polite.
Sometimes it's a strain to stay that way.

How sad to see this go. VN is what turned me onto the positive aspects of a discussion forum, was an avid AC player - and in my research of more information i found the forums. Definately more of a lurker, then actual poster, unless I feel comfortable in the material (or just to troll, damn whiskey!).
