I expect that not one of you will take responsibility for your part in the downfall of the server. It's because most of you haven't changed. The behaviors of the minority of "elite" ego-tripping tools on Mordred drove countless people to give up and go somewhere they would not be gray ganked, griefed, flamed, killed during raids after spending hours waiting for the small hope they would get that one item they had needed for months, etc.
Oh sure, you can all say it was Mythic's fault, it was this or that expansion, it was this or that nerf or class or whatever. The fact is that human nature killed the server. It's a Lord of the Flies scenario, not that I expect most of you to understand the reference. And I'm not saying any of this with the hope that you will suddenly see the light and realize that if people had felt like they had a chance on Mordred to compete and have fun without all of the pricks ruining it for them, then maybe we would all still be having a good time. I know that you will never see it, because all you want to do is talk shit, deny responsibility for your actions, and group up into your little gangs of like-minded fools who cry and yell about the boat sinking while they simultaneously punch holes in the sides, all the while whining about how it's the captain's fault, the crew's fault, the boat manufacturer's fault, ad infinitum.
The fact is that if you are unable to recognize that 95% of the people who quit left because of how they were treated, then you are almost certainly a member of the 5% whose actions and attitudes caused them to leave in the first place. And yes, the server had inherent flaws and was not well tended to by Mythic. But people still play the game, even with all of its flaws. Ultimately, Mordred would have survived those flaws, but it was destined to fail from the day that it was created. A dog-eat-dog environment with no negative consequences for the mistreatment of those who are less powerful than you is bound to self-destruct.
Why am I even writing this? I tried forever to help people realize that they were killing the very server that we all wanted to save. It didn't work then, and it's pointless now. Logic is wasted on people who can't see past their own egos.
This entire game is made up of people who think they are better then everyone else and honestly if you don't think that way, then well you have low self esteem, that or you don't care to improve yourself. Instead of crying, confront the challenge at hand. This happens every day in real life, why shouldn't it in a video game?
The people knew what they were getting into when starting on mordred. It is a PvP server, people can kill others in PvE areas.. Once again I will say it is Mythic's fault because THEY could have changed it so others couldn't kill people PvEing but they didn't because thats the game of PvP. Yeah its screwed up to do it, I'll admit, I did it as well but not nearly as much as other people. But I always rezzed and let them be afterwards but thats just me and a handful of other people I know who do this. Some people bury themselves with the crap talking after they get killed while PvEing, which they shouldn't because it is a Video Game and won't get you rezzed or help your case.. There are bigger problems in real life.. Just log on another toon and kill the gankers or move somewhere else that isn't regularly used, there are plenty of places to PvE in peace, people are just too lazy to look.
In the end, the real reason why mordred died is because people couldn't hack it and mostly because of mythic not doing the needed adjustments to the server. It is well known that Mordred was left alone YEARS ago. Nothing will bring back the server unless they do a Character Copy of some sort, which if they let people transfer off of mordred it will just be a fast way out of a bad thing and the complete end of mordred. Not to mention, the entire game is dying so the servers who have low population will of course be the first ones to go.
