I might have to ask for one of these for Christmas...definitely couldn't hurt to have it at my disposal should I need it.

I have this one http://www.wacom.com/intuos/9x12.cfm

It's very nice, but I haven't been able to sit down and draw much with it. I plan to once my office stops giving me work to do >.<

I wish... I generally can't stand substandard quality, so it would have to be a wacom tablet. They're too expensive for my occasional hobbying. So, more mouse drawing for me.

Just for the size comment, yes, it's small. That's actually one of it's selling points for me.

The tablet is about the size of a mouse mat, so doesn't take up a huge amount of desk space, you could even put a mouse mat on top for when it's not in use. The working area is just under 4"x6" and is perfect for a hobbyist. I occasionally use it for sketching, but I prefer a pencil and paper for that, but when I'm working on icons/banners/wallpaper/etc and need to draw a bit in, rub something out or when I'm colouring a black and white image, it's MUCH easier than using a mouse and the size has never been an issue for me. It's great for vector work in Illustrator, I just sketch in the shape I want with the tablet and then fine tune it with my mouse.

It couldn't replace a mouse for me, but in conjunction with one for specific tasks, it's perfect.

If you're a serious graphic artist then obviously something bigger would be needed, but for me, the bamboo is great in every way, especially price

(do you think I should ask for a commission )

I have a blue Wacom Bamboo Fun - medium size.

I don't draw, but I love this thing for cutting out & touching up images. It's a nice size...fits right beside my keyboard on my keyboard tray. Any larger and it would be too cumbersome for me to use.
