I reactivated two of my accounts out of boredom tonight. After activated them I remembered what was on them...

Account 1:
Healer
Hero
Cleric
Cleric
Cleric

Account 2:
Eld
Druid
Cleric
Cleric

Kinda a huge waste, I'm grinding on my level 40 infiltrator so I can solo my way back to #1 RP holder on Gawaine!

Sometimes its nice to pop on here and see some of the old timers How you doing Sky? Been a long time! Like some of the others, I agree that we will never get our old DAoC that we all loved and miss very much now. Nothing beat buying a necklace and waiting on a pad to port over to enemy realms. And those times you bought it and forgot to put it on...man...fucked up your group for 15 mins I mean it never happened to me...but <cough> ...

Anyway...while Mythic contemplates on this Origins server, I am going to build a time machine to go back 7 years and play the game I loved. See you all there

Everyone grew up and left home. The parents decided to remodel.

It wouldn't be the same.

If it comes back i'll re-sub for a month or so. I dont expect it to be like it was 7 years ago though, kinda crappy but oh-well.

Well as far as the post Jacobs ran, that was back in March. It was posted last week by Mythic that work has resumed on Origins.

This DOES not mean that it will happen. As said before it could possibly just be a ploy. Off hand though I do not understand why Mythic does not clamp down on Free Shards big time. It is without doubt one of the clearest cases of copyright infringements one could possibly see. Yes, if they did this it would not be certain those playing would re-sub to Mythic, but some would, and some is better than none. They have nothing to lose by shutting down free shards.

Anyway while I would like to say I would play origins in a heart beat I heard some things that made me think "Ugh...." can't remember exactly what it was but had something to do with some ToA classes being part of origins, others that were pre ToA not being in at all or radically modified.

Also, I am sure that many of you believe in your hearts and minds that OF was the most fun you ever had in DAoC and in many regards it was. Nothing like old style relic raids, relic keeps and defenses. But I guarantee the first time Albs or Mids got bottled up at the milegate the whines would begin.

One last thing. While I'm not a large fan of ToA and a lot that has happened since. I do enjoy some of the other changes. I cannot imagine playing a toon that cannot cap 101 areas.

nothing like taking a relic in primetime then waking up the next day and the HKers took it right back.

You answered your own question. They have very little to gain by shutting down shards at this point. Shards don't have all that many players to begin with and only a tiny portion of those would come back to DAOC after Mythic shut them the shards they were playing on. I'm sure the legal costs of shutting down shards would far exceed the revenue from those returning players. Many of the more popular shards are not in the U.S. too, so it's not even clear Mythic could succeed at shutting them down.

I think this is home. Its not the MMO's but the people. Whether all our lives crossed because Mythic happened upon a successful game is undeniable, once there it was each other that made it all it was. I saw the warmth when some of us all went to POTBS I saw it again when many went to WAR. We were a cross section from Albs, Mids and Hibs and less some that couldn't let old stuff be forgotten there was no drama. What I'm saying is you will never find home but if you put the effort to make new friends and aquaintances you may find a new home. I'm commenting to point out that don't go looking for the old home go looking for a new one or you wont find anything.

I guess I also wanted to make it common knowledge that in WAR we as a guild saw the least turn over and shrinkage than any guild and we played on the largest pop server. All the other guilds around us dwindled to nothing but ours, though declined from WAR's short-commings, shrank at a much slower rate than any I got to know. And you all know I have a big mouth so I met all the other guilds and guild leaders. My 2 cents.
