I'm not currenly playing any MMO's. If they release Origins (looks like it might be possible), I'd come back and try to recapture some of those glory days - if even a little taste.

I've played a lot of MMO's, but Pre TOA DAOC is still my favorite. Sad? Maybe.

Will it be familiar and yet wrong - like banging an ex that got old and fat ; or like reconnecting with an old flame that still smells and feels good even though its been a long time?

Mythic is just lazy, if a bunch of unpaid geeks can run freeshards without any problem and Mythic has difficulty even doing ½ the things they are doing on freeshards, while getting paid, than what does that tell you? Freeshards fixed the buff bot problem and are already having servers you ‘pay to play on’ that hold stats. Mythic is whining about the buff bot issue – so what do they do on freeshards? Well, if you cannot afford to have another bot account, or the computers to run multiples you pay a few dollars more and get access to an npc that you can use as a summon stone that gives you all the buffs. Now if freeshards can do this – why can’t Mythic? Ok lets talk about Old Frontiers. There seems to be people on both sides of the fence (which I honestly find hard to believe) but some people actually enjoy New Frontiers. So some shards on the freeshards twist the frontiers ever few months. So 1 month it’s old frontiers, the next it’s new frontiers. Everybody is happy. Now again - if a bunch of unpaid nerds can do this, yet Mythic cannot.. what does that tell you? It’s about effort, because I doubt a bunch of unpaid nobodies can out technology the peepz at Mythic.

Would I go on old frontiers? Yep… with my entire pl team. Why? Because I loved it, it was the best time in the game, and I know I would roll with lazy returnee’s needing a pl. Do I think they should make a separate server for this? Hell to the no. Simple bring it on the live servers, and twist it every few months to make all sides happy. Simple.

Never going to happen. Origins is a carrot they drag out every few months to get people excited and keep paying for their accounts. Meanwhile they are putting all the current clusters together in a new server called Ywain. Why would they do that then turn around and split the population again by opening Origins? It makes no sense. Granted Mythic has done many things that made no sense in DAOC's history, but I'm still skeptical they would make this mistake.

On balance I like the NF with TOA ruleset more than the others that have existed in DAOC's history, so I'm not especially excited about Origins anyway. You can't go home again. Even if you replace NF with OF it still won't be anywhere close to the same game you are fondly remembering from 7 years ago. Too much has changed and too many people you knew and fought with or against have left and won't be back.

Most of the 'old school die hards' all are on freeshards anyways. I see Wrath, Larfo, TNO people all the time over there bashing it up.

But the excuse of Mythic 'we cannot do it' is pathetic. It's 'we won't do it' because again... if a bunch of unpaid nerds with a few computers can satisfy the people that left here for there, than something must be wrong.

I'm still pushing for old frontiers on live servers, not new servers.

Plus - the freeshards people stated they would shut down the shards if old frontiers returned here.

Seriously doubt Origins will see the light of day... and even if it does, by some miracle, actually happen, they'll find some way for it to be absolutely terrible.

I would enjoy it. But Chooch is likely correct. It will be all hosed up.

Lets list thing we hated about New Frontiers.

Slopes that you can't climb along river banks. - Water being every where.

Towers.

Boat Rides.

The Lag.

They changed Darkness Falls. (not so much NF but still)

And the fact everyone quit after realizing this kaka sucks.

Now let's be fair and list all the things we liked about NF.

Telling Rackir to 'zerg more, imo!'

That's all I got.
