OK, so the clocks just jumped back an hour....my dilemma is this:

I work overnights, from 7pm - 7am, should I get paid an extra hour for this sacrifice, or is it thrown out the window? (Basically meaning I've spent an extra hour here for free...)

How do your jobs handle this? Do I have a cause to say something to someone?

Come on, VN, help me out here

I'd be demanding an extra hour of pay personally.

I didn't work overnights when we set the clocks forward, so it wasn't an issue...

My issue is quite simple. Just because the clocks made an hour simply vanish, I was still physically here, and worked for that 60 minutes babysitting servers, and telling nurses how to turn the wireless switch back on so they could dispense meds. IMO, I should get paid for that extra 60 minutes.

Now, if I'm still on this shift when they turn the clocks forward again, I'll gladly stay an extra hour to make sure I hit my 12, but when they go back I shouldn't be penalized an hour's pay simply because the clocks get turned back.

You should get paid for it. You get paid for the time you put in, not the time that the clock says.

You didn't think before you posted this did you?

You lose an hour when you set the clocks forward.

I'm in the same boat. I work 6pm - 6am. I will be paid 13 hours for that night. I'd make sure to keep track of your hours for the pay period that that day will be included in, however....just to make sure you get the right amount of hours.
