That is very true, if you are dumb enough to step foot on the playing field you are certainly dumb enough to get tasered. You lose your "Don't taser me bro" rights after that.

so can anyone actually explain to me WHY this was controversial? I have yet to actually run into anyone who doesn't think the little turd should have been tased
why is the Philly PD doing an investigation into whether or not the cop should have used it or not?
frankly its safer for both parties to just use the gd taser, if they have to tackle the little brat for all we know when he was getting landed on he could have broken a wrist, ankle, arm, ect or the cop could have been hurt
then we'd be whining about why the cop tackled him rather than just use the taser

I've been wondering that as well. Seems to me if tasers are deemed safe enough to give to cops then there shouldn't be an issue with using them. I mean, I am not saying cops should go around tasering people just for getting loud or something, but if they're running onto the field then who knows what they're gonna do? If there is a question of safety then it should be aimed at the idea of using tasers at all, rather than this individual circumstance.

I don't care that he got tased. When someone runs onto a football field they usually get blasted by a linebacker or something... that has to be more dangerous than a taser.

I don't think it was needed to use the taser on him, but there deffinately has to be some improvements on stadium security in general. It's way too often these things happens, and who knows if a person in the future might hold some kind of a weapon to damage players or officials.

i believe the reason had to do less with this particular situation and more on the fact that there have been more then a few instances where cops have used tasers when there is doubt on weather it was necessary or not, and a lot of these have gotten a lot of attention. They probably want to investigate all of these cases properly and thoroughly so it doesn't come back to bite them in the butt later in the form of a lawsuit.
