well another talking point for us to discuss...do you guys think it was just or a over abuse of power? i personally think it was a over abuse of power, in no way should he have used that stun-gun. by the looks of him it was a desparate attempt to get the 17yr old. the cop looked out of shape and not able to keep up the pursuit.

An expert on police accountability said he couldn't comment specifically on the Philadelphia case but said the general rule is that officers should use Tasers only on people who are posing a threat of "imminent harm."


its very subjective, and their should be a answer to keep fans off of the field, im not sure it should be a taser.

I'm fine with the taser in this case. It's a quick way to subdue him and get on with the game. It was probably less dangerous to him that having someone catch and tackle him. I laughed at the video when he just dropped like a rock.

And how about this as an answer to keep fans off of the field - knowing there are consequences. It seems like we're teaching kids these days that they can do anything they want and all they'll get (if anything) is a "strong talking-to." I'm all for showing them there are consequences to their stupid actions.

I have no problems with this action. Especially after watching the video. He got caught, cuffed and walked off under his own power in under 30 seconds.

IMO its a lot less dangerous than having 3 security guys gang tackle you. You know how pissed off they would have been having chased him for a couple of minutes? The cop seemed level headed about the take down and under control.


Course, I'm old and he was interrupting a Cardinals game..

i listened to Mike and Mike this morning and agree with one of the peeps that was on their show...would like to see mandatory jail-time for a offense like this..if the consequences were severe enough, then it wouldnt happen.

Since you dont know what the fan is going to do at that point and he is evading officers I see no harm in what the police did. At the time they didn't know he was only 17 and having some "fun".

the only thing that could have been better was if he did this near home plate and ran by the home plate and got pelted in the face by the person who was batting

You also have to keep in mind the case where the Royal's 1st base coach got beat up on the field by fans so I don't have any problem with them using a taser to quickly subdue a person of the field as you never know what can happen. I mean imagine if the guy ran onto the field and hurt someone with a gun or a knife than we'd all be wondering why didn't anyone was a taser on him.

If you don't want to be tasered than don't step onto the field. Very simple concept.
