New Orleans at Seattle

This one does not require much of a prediction. Seattle is the first ever team to make the playoffs with a losing record, and even though they are at home I do not believe this will be much of a game. New Orleans is not playing the best of ball right now, but it is hard to make a case for them not advancing to the Divisional Round for the second straight season.

Prediction: New Orleans by 17

New York Jets at Indianapolis

The game of the week some would say. A rematch of last years AFC Championship game. The Jets were completely overwhelmed in that game last year. This season the teams are a little different. The biggest difference has been the rollar coaster play by Peyton Manning, some games he is awesome, other he is not. Which Manning will show up today? Even Manning on a bad day though still has to be better than Sanchez on a good day. The Jets quarterback is the biggest question mark heading into this game. If the NY Jets can get the run established and take the ball out of Mark Sanchez hands then I think the Jets have a great shot of winning this, however, if the Colts can shut down the running game of the Jets, I do not see anyway Sanchez can lead the Jets to victory.

My Prediction: Colts by 7

Green Bay at Philadelphia

This is the other potential game of the week. Green Bay defeated the Eagles in week one by a count of 27-24 (did not look this up, so if it is a little off I am sorry). However, the Packers ran up a big lead before Vick came into the game, and Vick brought the Eagles back to a near victory, so that last game should not be an indicator as to who will win this game. The Packers are playing good football right now, and the Eagles are not playing good football right now, this could be the biggest factor for the game. I have to believe that Aaron Rodgers will find a way to get the job done against the Eagles, and give Micheal Vick his first Wildcard round loss of his career. However, if that Eagles defense can frustrate Rodgers and force him into some turnovers, and if Micheal Vick is fully healthy, then the Eagles could find themselves in a familar position: on the road in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

My prediction: Green Bay by 4.

Baltimore at Kansas City

For the last 8 years there has always been a worst to first team in the NFL. This year that team is the Kansas City Chiefs. What a wonderful season these Chiefs have enjoyed. However, most of their victories have come against teams not currently in the playoffs, and the one team in the playoffs that they did beat has a losing record. The Ravens came a fourth down throw away from winning the AFC North, and are playing some of the best football in the NFL. The Ravens were picked by many people to go to the superbowl at the start of the season, and I see no reason to think differently right now. Baltimores defense should halt the KC running game and force the ball into Cassel's hands, which should put a ball or two into Ed Reeds hands. If KC can fluster Flaaco with a mix of a great pass rush and great crowd noise, and the Cheifs can manage to run the ball like they have all year, they might find themselves getting their first playoff victory since 1996.

My Prediction: Ravens by 10

Hi my name is Peyton Manning waaaaaaaaah, wah, wah, waaaaaaaaaah. I am the biggest cry baby in the NFL, which is why I am one of the biggest jack wagons in the NFL also. If one of my receivers fails to catch the ball it is never my fault and I will cry for a flag everytime. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I have to go now so coach Caldwell can change my diaper.

The Seahawks game was absolutely stunning, I do not know where this Seattle team came from, but wow. It is unthinkable for a 7-9 team to be in the playoffs, but it is even more unthinkable to imagine them beating the defending Super Bowl Champions. This wont happen again, however, as the NFL is set to redo how they seed playoff teams. I expect next year playoff teams will be seeded by record as opposed to the current system. I do not like this change, I think a team should be rewarded for winning its division with a home playoff game. I am surprised that the Jets were able to rally for the win at the end of that game, I thought for sure if the ball was in Sanchez hands they had no chance to win the game. I think the biggest factor was that long kick off return, it took much of the pressure off of Sanchez. Great game to finish the day. Even though I went 0 for 2 today, nothing makes my day better than watching "Cry Baby" Peyton get eliminated from the playoffs, well other than watching him throw a pick six to lose the super bowl.

was 27-20 week one Amendial

and I'll give GB's defense the benefit of the doubt for Vick's comeback week 1, when you spend the whole time preparing for Kolb and suddenly Vick is out there you're obviously not going to be fully prepared to contain him

I'll buy that to a degree. Honestly I am not sure what defenses can do to prepare for Vick. He has been doing this stuff for years, and now that he seems to have developed into an elite passer, it makes his running ability that much worse. Sale out to stop him from running and he will beat you passing it. He is a complete quarterback now, which is why he is doing what he is doing. However, I do tend to think the Green Bay defense can do enough to contain him and I have to believe that the Packers offense will be able to score points again on the Eagles. This is why I picked the Packers to win.

It really seems like you just hate Manning partly because he's so competitive, and also because he's so damn good... Which I guess makes sense because youre a Jaguars fan. Just gets kinda old having to read about how he is a crybaby every time he loses a game and a pompous jerk every time he wins.. That said, this IS an Amendial thread and I should expect as much, if I do not like it I should not read it.

Good day.

Have you not watched him play a game? He is a huge cry baby, I am not the only one that has noticed this. I have had several people comment on how he seems to always be crying for a flag or about something else everytime things don't go his way. People are just so blinded by his "greatness" that they turn the blind eye to it.

Kansas City game went as expected, you had to figure if the Ravens forced the Cheifs to put the ball up in the air it was going to be the death of the Chiefs. That sets up an elite final four in the AFC, with the four teams who have been the best in the AFC all season long. Atleast I know that I wont be going winless this week!

Good rebound day to go 2-2 for the week. Did not get to catch much of the Packers game as I was watching the KU basketball game for a little bit and then driving back home to Lawrence for the rest of the game. It sounds like the Packers played a great game, and that will set up a great matchup between Atlanta and Green Bay next week. The real question in the NFC is: how much magic does Seattle have? It will be hard to pick for them next week, but we will see, it is the Chicago Bears we are talking about.
