Well, my strobe stuff came in today. So far so good with the Cactus V4. Realized I need to read the instruction book for my 430EX though. 
Took a few quick test pictures to see the results of using an off-camera flash set-up. Definitely impressed with the improvement. Going to be fun learning the intricacies...
