I have been lurking this board for about a month or so, as the due date approached.
The first child for either of us. What a trip. The labor process wasnt nearly as dramatic as i had imagined. Labor went well and everyone is in good shape. My wife is Irish/Swedish and i am Dutch/Norwegian. We wanted a name that was uncommon, reflected our heritage and one that people wouldnt mangle trying to pronounce. All is well, getting the hang of things fast now. Lots of emotions in flux, it has taken me by surprise really.
I never really expected to be a parent and come to a bit later than most. I am 40, so this will be the only child for us.

We named our son Matthias and yeah, my mom can't pronounce it right...still.
