Thanks for the tip!
I checked out some YouTube videos and they aren't really what I'm into.
I thought the drummer was very good and, IMO, is the one who really defines the band's style to a large extent. He plays some very cool, unique patterns that help them stand out a bit.
The guitar players are just okay. They did a nice dual harmony part on one of the songs but, other than that, seemed to be of the usual tuned down, power chord variety. I did appreciate that they had more old school tones though; that kind of sound can be accomplished only by turning up a tube amplifier very loud so that the power tubes and speakers distort rather than simply relying on preamp distortion. Playing Gibson guitars certainly helped in that respect as well.
The singer can sing - when he wants to. I checked out four videos and, in all but one, he was doing that overdone Cookie Monster voice thing that seems to be so popular today. In one song, he actually sang with a natural voice and, while not the greatest singer I've ever heard, sang well enough and had a unique style. IMO, he should spend more time singing like that rather than sounding like the other 50 Cookie Monster metal singers already out there.
