That Celtic Knot Garden looks really cool. I made a memorial garden for my mother who passed away in September, I used lots of the plants received at her funeral and included a chime and Bird feeders to attract the birds. I plan on planting tomatoes this month.

Damoireen, you are obviously in a warmer climate then me. It was -30 windchill here yesterday. I'm jealous that you can actually plan on planting the tomatoes this month. We don't dare put anything out until after May 1st.

The memorial garden you made for your mother sounds very nice. I love chimes.

I have been neglecting this forum! I am still in snow to my ears as I am over in the mountains at my sons helping him out for a few months I hope to be back over in the valley in time to be able to grow some kind of a garden. I want to grow some Yellow cherry tomatoes this year, I cant think of the name of them off hand but I ate some out of a friends garden last year and they were so yummy.

My daughter who is up in Portland Oregon has started all her seed trays already I am so jealous! Over here in Bend I dont think they can even plant anything for another few months.

We are deep in snow here in Iowa as well. It's really never safe to plan most crops until after May 1 but I'm so ready for spring. I'm wearing my garden catalogs out.

In southern Missouri we had an ice storm again last week. I'm not sure when it's supposed to get warmer.

I used to have a huge vegetable garden where I used to live. The ground where we are now is way too rocky for much to grow. We can't even get our grass to grow well. My daughter and I decided that this year we will start container gardening. We're going to put some containers of flowers by our mailbox and some vegetables in the back yard. Not sure what specifically we'll plant yet. I'm hoping to go to our local garden shop this weekend to ask what would work well around here.

Ayla gave some good tips for containers. The biggie that I always take into account is that containers take more water for all the reasons Ayla mentioned. If my containers fail it's usually because I wasn't faithful enough with the watering.

Chan that knot garden sounds fascinating! I would mention though that if you're working it around a tree, make sure you use plants or herbs that love shade, especially if the tree is a big one. If it's just a sapling right now it won't matter so much, but if you plant sun-loving herbs under a shady canopy then the shaded part of your knot garden won't grow well at all! But I know there are plenty of herbs and plants that are shade lovers so it shouldn't be too hard to do. And what a gorgeous idea for plants around a tree!! I wish I had space in my back-yard to do this...I might have to try it in the front!

I've got lots of plants to put up in the front garden hopefully tomorrow or the next day. I was going to put them all in today but it's raining!! Bah! Oh well. I've got pepper seedlings coming up indoors under lights, and I have peas and carrots sprouting outside. My lettuce and spinach I think got flash frosted and died so I need to start them over again, but no worries there. And my sister and I were given some blackberry canes that we planted the other day. We planted corn a couple days ago also, though it of course hasn't sprouted yet, and in a couple weeks I'll plant beans among the corn sprouts. Also planned for this year are cucumbers, tomatoes (which my sister has sprouting at her place) pumpkins and watermelons. Wheee!

My boston ivy plants that I put in last fall are starting to bud and I'm really really looking forward to them spreading all over the walls. Everything is starting to show signs of life!
