I wonder if Rocco signed a contract with them or if they (Bravo/Producers/Execs) are having difficulty getting other chefs to be apart of Top Chef. I think it is fun to see certain characters (Anthony Bourdain) each season, but you would think there would be more variety involved by now due to popularity.
Especially with certain chefs being canned or scaled back by Food Network unless they have some absurd clause that says they cannot appear on other network shows.

Well, this weeks episode was interesting.
There was a lot of "evidence" in this episode early on towards who would be sent home. This has been a pattern I have noticed with previous seasons when the competition is young. To save spoilers, I won't say what it is.
The challenges were quite excellent this show. The limitations of the quickfire and the originality of the elimination were entertaining. And of course, someone always screws up in the Quickfire! lol Some teams definitely had an easier time with the Elimination than others. Bear and Vulture I think were the most difficult IF continuity between dishes was an element to the judging. Penguins, Lion and Gorilla were fairly easy with Seafood, Meats, Vegetarian themes.

cant say i really agreed with the losing team last night. that is the problem with that type of challenge, though. you are cooking for the people but have to impress the judges. they really should have had the neighborhood pick the winning team.

I agree about the neighborhood voting or chiming in at least. I was a tad let down who got the boot but suspected it when they kept showing him in clips throughout the show.

I wonder if they emphasized that the losing team "barely" lost. They definitely let the winners know it was barely a win.
That is of course the disadvantage in a team competition format. The worst dish may very well be on an overall good or moderate team and that person gets a free pass.
And as usual, a lot of star players do well in one challenge and flub in another.
Also, I think the reason Zoe was not eliminated was to drag out the whole lesbian relationship element. Remember that executives/producers have influence on who gets eliminated.

My husband turned this on the other night and I couldn't believe how this show had changed since it's inception. These people seem much less professional, imaginative and innovative then their predecessors. It also annoyed me that it seemed as though they were powering down beer after beer at every break in the action.
I doubt that I'll bother watching this show again.

I was referring to their lack of professionalism, not that I was opposed to them tipping a few. I happen to be guilty of that myself, on occasion.
Showing guys bashing each other's heads into the walls and lesbian women languishing in the same double bed didn't scream 'professional' to me. The half dozen empty beer bottles on top of the fridge didn't help their image either. If I knew those details about a chef whose restaurant I considered visiting, I wouldn't bother.
For example, I know Cat Cora is gay and does ouzo shots on Iron Chef and I still would be excited about having her as my chef because she looks and acts professionally. Not so with this bunch.
