This seems like a great excuse to buy a steamer
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my steamer!!
Aside from cooking vegetables and rice, once you heat up leftover steak, roast, chicken, etc. in a steamer, you will never put it in a microwave again. The meat comes out hot and juicy. You can do the same to slightly stale bread or rolls. Heat them up in a steamer and the bread comes out like it was fresh. It's an absolutely wonderful appliance.

If I had an extra 40 laying around I'd buy one tomorrow. As it stands, I think I have to wait another week. we'll see though, maybe I'll make a few extra bucks bowling tonight!

I use a Cook's Illustrated strategy:
* Skillet over medium heat with some butter & olive olive oil,
* Add asparagus and cover for about 7min (steaming),
* Remove cover and cook for another 7-10min.
It comes out tender but with crispy tips.

I bought the steamer, what a great purchase. As far as the asparagus, I took a food network recipe which worked out great. I served asparagus and green beens (steamed) with a lemon and tarragon dip (I took the advice of one of the reviewers and and replaced the mayo with a mix of mayo and sour cream). It was a very strong flavor, a little bit goes a long way, but quite tasty.

Sweet, you will LOVE the steamer the more you use it!
If the dip was too strong because of the sour cream, try substituting Greek Yogurt for it. It has a simlar consistency and isn't quite as sour.

When I first made it, it was too strong. Luckily I made it in the morning and it mellowed out by the time I served it. I think I will try the yogurt next time though.

I break off the stems, salt, pepper and put some olive oil on them, then wrap with bacon. Put the oven to 350 and cook for around 20 min.

I like it steamed with butter but lots of people like to cover it in cheese sauce or white sauce and slivered almonds.
Silver
White sauce then add a small tub of sour cream instead of cheese. Try it you'll like it.
P.S. use a dash of White pepper and a bit of salt to enhance the flavor.
