Not sure if this would help or not. But I always use Parchment paper or whatever it is called and use the top most rack. Also what the others said about deflecting the heat is a true too.

Agreed. Also, try out the air bake cookie sheets. They'll help.

We have a crappy oven and I usually cook things a few minutes over what the recipe says, then let them cook on their own for a couple mintues after removing them from the oven on the cookie sheet before removing them.
