I used to have a fridge in my garage too. It turned out to be a bad idea since it froze up in the subzero weather we get here in Wisconsin.

We keep two gallons a time in our indoor fridge, it has a separate 'zone' for milk storage that keeps it as fresh as possible.

Where are you from in Wisconsin? I'm from Oshkosh. My parents have a fridge in the garage. They turn it off in the winter and things stay at a good temperature and don't usually freeze - just don't keep anything perishable in there in case you get an 'Indian Summer'.

milk consumption varies at my house --- when it's cereal for breakfast and brownies for desert it goes very fast (a gallon in a day)

otherwise a gallon can last a week

.... but i only get paid once a month --- and budgeting is not my strong suit --- so i try to spend as much as i can get away with at the beginning of the month

Tomah. We have too many vehicles in the garage to keep a fridge in there now 2 motorcycles, a sidecar, a pickup truck and a car. Oshkosh is an awesome town. I used to go to the EAA fly-in there every year for almost 15 years. Now it's too big and commercial.

We usually end up using all the milk before it is expired. The problem is that we use Creamline. Which has a tendancy to spoil faster.

I just use dehydrated milk for everything. It tastes just as good to me and I dont have to worry about keeping it cold.

I do the same for cooking, but I can't stand drinking powdered milk.
