Need a wine and dessert recommendation for tonight's dinner |
My wife's and my 12th anniversary.
On the menu....
Spinach salad
Bacon Wrapped Scallops
Sauted Asparagus
Wild Rice
I'm not a wine buff by any means. I know what we don't like (nothing too dry, no odd fruit stuff like plum), but don't really have any sense of direction on this one. Help!
Also, what would you serve for dessert?

Doh! Had a service call to address earlier, talked with my buddy who drinks wine more than I do, and he recommended a chardonnay, so I went with it.
Chardonnay vs Riesling...did I make a bad call?
Oh, and I'm winging it on dessert with a brownie topped with butter pecan ice cream and caramel drizzled over it.

Reisling's are generally sweeter... from my dad has told me they are usually a wine that you have with Desert.
a White or a chardonay is perfect with fish good choice...
Congrats on the twelve years!

Yeah, we chose to stay home this year rather than go out to eat ($$$$...bleh).
Note to self...I baked the bacon wrapped scallops this time. They came out great, but I prefer grilled...if I bake them again I'll have to pan sear them afterwards and try that out.
Was a great night, though...kids stayed home with us (hell, they've been a huge part of us getting here, figured we'd share this one with them). Was easier to talk them into their anniversary present to us that way, too (cleaning up after dirtying half the dishes in the kitchen!).
