Safeway and Giant seem to always carry Greek Yogurt.

Meanwhile, I can't find creme fraiche to save my life.

I find it all the time in Publix.

You can always substitute other plain yogurt, but be sure to drain it. Put a paper towel in a strainer, and place the strainer over a bowl. Place the bowl in the fridge for about an hour. When ready to use, just dump the yogurt out of the towel and it's ready to use.

you can make your own ... it is very easy

take a half gallon of milk --- heat it up to around 180 degree's and keep it there for about 30 minutes

allow it to cool down to between 90-100 degree's add in a cup of buttermilk --- let it sit in a warm location overnight

you can also flavor it with fresh berries and fruits (make sure to scald them with boiling hot water first to eliminate unwanted bacteria) add in a little sugar etc .....

if it is not as thick as you like it ... add in a little bit of fruit pectin
