This one sounds just like mine that I've been unable to find...

Our friend that makes my gallon of kalhua for my birthday every year uses this recipe:


HOMEMADE KAHLUA


4 c. sugar

1 qt. water

2 1/2 oz. Tasters Choice instant coffee

1 qt. water

2 oz. pure vanilla extract

1 fifth 95% etoh (Everclear)

1/2 fifth brandy (Christian Bros.)


Heat sugar and water until sugar dissolves. (Do not boil.) Heat instant coffee and water until boiling. Mix sugar and coffee mixtures together. Cool to room temperature. Add vanilla, everclear and brandy. Makes 1 gallon of Kahlua.


This is the best I have ever had!!


Beats the crap outta the kind from the liquor stores.

thank you yes I needed the recipe and one that uses vodka and not everclear, The everclear varities have an after taste that I don't care for.


will let you how it turns out in a month or so =)

My recipe tells you to scrape the seeds out of the vanilla beans and then strain the whole thing before bottling. It gives it more vanilla flavor, I guess.

no after taste with the recipe we use, and like I said it's much better than any kind from a liquor store

hhee it also has "brandy"
