Especially considering it happens AFTER the resolution of the book. Obviously he isn't going to kill off Dresden a dozen books before the end of the series. Why does this upset everyone? It's just a cheeky mini cliffhanger for the next book.

I doubt Butcher will completely cop out and have him not die so we will probably get a book with Dresden in the afterlife; either as a ghost or in some afterlife dimension and in the end he will come back by whatever means and maybe even slip Mab's clutches.

I was expecting some sort of Earth shattering cliffhanger and all I got was a cute lead-in for the next novel.

yeah i think the butcher hate is a bit much over this. i did swear like a sailor when it ended but its not like i held a grudge lol. lots of people have said they'll never read another one because of this ending and i just don't understand it.

If he had died in the fight with the Red Court and it ended mid conflict I would be pissed but this is so obviously just a lead-in for the next book.

I doubt anyone who said they will never read another book will hold to their guns. if it effected them that profoundly the only emotion they will feel a year from now will be curiosity.

I just hope the Murphy story he is releasing has lots of post Harry death drama from all interested parties.

Meh, the first ten one star reviews I came across were people crying about the kindle pricing.

I can't fathom rating a book low because I am butt-hurt over the pricing of one of its formats not being on sale like the other.

thats just sad. the kindle price is still 2 dollars lower than what the publishers are pushing for as a minimum. people aren't going to be happy until authors and musicians make no money for their work at all apparently.

I think its funny that Amazons aggressive pricing on popular hardbacks is starting to bite them in the ass as people begin to expect it and get get pissed when it isn't there.

I was happy to pay $13 for my Nook version because the hardback in $18 in the civilized world.

18 is pretty low for the hardcover too. the problem is walmart, amazon and target all started selling for penny profits on new hardcovers a while ago and have since progressed to selling alot of new releases for a loss which is ignorant but i guess they all want to be the winner of the price war. the casualty in this is the bookstores who generally got the books for 40-50% off retail and then sold the book for 10-20% off retail making their take on a book 20-30% of the cover price. their entire industry was based on those figures and when the megastores and amazon got in on it and forced them to try and compete it killed a large chunk of their income which is why bookstores keep going under. they're at the point now where the big three are selling books for up to a 10 dollars less than they can buy them direct from the distributors for. the entire industry has been essentially turned upside down and destroyed by the price wars. the fed should already be involved because it violates antitrust laws but so far nothing has happened and the disturbing reasoning behind that is payoffs from the megacorps to look the other way. the whole thing is a disgusting mess and at the rate things are going people will be damned lucky if there are any real bookstores left in another 10 to 20 years.

The ending came out of nowhere for me, I was just stoked that he was finally getting with Murphy rofl

I liked it though, makes me super pumped up for the next one, I think it's hilarious how riled up people are getting about it though, doesn't make any sense to me

I too was pissed, but only cause he was finally going to go on a true date with Murphy. I have a feeling that this is going to make her actually take up the sword though.

We I read it, my response was...."Jim, you bastard!" and that was only cause I have to wait for the next one to come out.
