I tend to agree. I enjoyed the first couple of sequels, though. I think I read up to Children of Dune. I started on one of the prequels and put it down. It's been at least 10 years, though.

i thought the prequels were better than books 4 and onward....maybe even better than 2 and 3 as well. i've never understood why some people dislike the prequels...i thought they did a really good job of filling out the story.

The way I see it, the first book. The original Dune is a brilliant piece of writing, with a good story, believable characters etc
The rest in the series are milking cows exploiting that.

based on your first "sentence" i find it hard to believe you know what good writing is.

Hehe, I'm not touchy about my writing abilities, or lack thereof.
(but yes, even I can see that "sentence" is horrible  Happens alot when you think while typing
