Yeah I have the same qualms. I absolutely love the series, but all ADWD did was....well nothing. If I was not on a 45 hour bus ride I don't think I ever would have actually finished it.

Just started on Game of Thrones here. (haven't seen the tv show)

I'm only on page 40 or so, but I'm hooked.


I hope he slows down on the character/region introductions for a bit though, soon. Otherwise, I'm going to have to get a map and family tree started... It's like Tolkien all over again.


One thing that I like about Martin so far is that he seems to have the same opinion of winter that I do. 5 books in....and the phrase is still used quite a bit. Just get used to it I guess.

So by what you're saying, the book isn't at par with the first books.

I think the author doesn't want the series to end, that is why he is maybe going around in circles.

Martin, take a page from Rowling please.
