Wheel of time book 1.

I had read both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings before I read that one, but wasn't hooked. Read "The eye of the World" and haven't read much other then fantasy since. (Except some sci-fi, including Heinlein )

sci-fi, it was RAH, starship troopers. still one of my favorite reads. if i could, i'd get a dart board with paul verhoven's face on it. for westerns, it was Louis L'amour, the Sackett brand, 3rd of his Sackett family series. fantasy was the hobbit.

First fantasy I read was The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Was hooked before even finishing The Hobbit.

long ago it was westerns, hopalong cassidy, the sackets, and many many more

now, i like cozies (mild, usually humorous mysteries, as apposed to your more hard boiled mysteries). there are many many authors and i honestly cant remember what first lead me to them.

Not sure which started it, read both of these around the same time and kinda got hooked on fantasy books after it...

Magic Kingdom for Sale: Sold! by Terry Brooks
The Zork Chronicles by George Effinger

Shortly after that I started reading a lot of Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance books along with Piers Anthony and Robert Jordan.

Maybe they were proceeded by Bunnicula, a childrens book I read years earlier about a vampire rabbit that sucked carrot juice.

Reading the Dragonlance books when I was in 6th grade.

Haven't looked back since.

Frank Herbert's Dune. Was hooked from there.

There's some delight in ale and wine,
And some in girls with ankles fine,
But my delight, yes, always mine,
Is to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.
