Part XVIII - SURE! HOP ON IN!!!
So we pulled the car out of the movie theater parking lot and headed home. Unfortunately, we were only going there for her to get a pair of socks, as she was wearing sandals (she had unattractive feet, for those of you who were dying to know).
We walked in and I waited in the living room as Emily headed back to her room. Her little Sister came into the living room.
"Why are you guys back so soon?"
"We're going rollerskating and Emily needed to get socks."
Emily enters the room, socks in hand. Pink ones, no less.
"Can I come with you guys?"
"NO!"
"SURE!"
Emily glared at me. I think she thought I was serious! I was!
"Just kidding. Naw, you wouldn't want to come, it will be boring."
Emily laughed at me. I think she thought I was kidding! I wasn't!
For the first (and last) time that evening, Emily got the door for ME. For some reason she seemed in a hurry to leave.
So we strapped ourselves into the Green Ranger (as I so lovingly called it) and made for the other side of town. I should have known what happens when you go to Skid Row...
