I loved the first one. The other two sucked.
And my love for the first one is the only reason I didn't walk out the theater 30 minutes into the second one. There was no way I was wasting money on the third one, I waited till it hit TV.

Someone is going to vote for 2 or 3 just to piss everyone else off. This shouldn't even be a poll.
I'll give the freeway scene its due, but otherwise 2 was a letdown, and 3 was a travesty. I don't think I've even been able to watch 3 all the way through yet.

I liked the highway scene in the 2nd one, and the mech fight in the 3rd one, but beyond that, I don't really remember much from either of those movies. It seems almost as if those guys were suddenly caught off-guard by the smashing success of the first movie, and just threw some stuff together for the sake of having something of a storyline. I think the French guy and Monica Belluci's character needed more character development, they were the only interesting/memorable characters besides Neo, Trinity, and Smith.
It's not surprising the online game flopped too. Had they of released it after the first movie, it might've done better. I recall reading a game journalist's in-game interview with a GM, who promptly went and kicked the journalist's character's butt after the interview was over.

I think the problem was the success of the first film gave those idiot Wachowski brothers creative control and they just aren't very creative. They are pseudo-intellectual dipshits who think they are clever amalgamating lots of borrowed ideas and a smattering of Christian symbolism in to a sci-fi film.
It falls flat on its face because the later two films are only as clever as the two dopes who made them.
