each season has it's own theme that runs throughout but it's all pretty episodic. occasionally you get 3 episode arcs but that's pretty rare. i do suggest though, if you like scifi and you've watched the first 2 seasons of dr who 2005 (so you get the back story) that you watch torchwood children of earth. it's season 3 of torchwood and is, hands down, the best scifi anything shown on tv. seasons 1 and 2 of torchwood are pretty terrible though. season 1 is like.. stand alone terrible but kind of fun if you like jack, season 2 is dramatically better but still pretty bad and season 3 was mind blowing because it's just 1 5 hour story that was aired mon-fri of the same week. fantastic.
Agreed. I enjoyed Torchwood as a more adult version of Who but it was pretty craptastic overall. Children of Earth though was insanely good, like must see good.

it's must see good but you REALLY need to know and understand jack's FULL backstory. which means watching at the very least, 2 seasons of dr who. and actually, season 3 as well because coe happened after season 3 of who and the doctor is brought up several times to deal with the menace but for obvious reasons, he doesn't show.

I'm not sure if I buy the explanation of River's identity. I think she lied to Amy and Rory just so they would stop worrying about Melody, and that her true identity won't be revealed for a long time.

Doctor Who is fantastic. From Nine, to Ten, to Eleven, the doctors are fantastic. And the guest actors were also fantastic.
My favorite episodes were The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Human Nature, Family of Blood, New Earth, Silence in the Library, Forest of the Dead, The Pandorica Opens and The End of Time.
