I bet there were people backup in the day that were like "I refuse to use the telephone" and continued to meet the pony express weekly down at the local bank to send off letters.

It is great for keeping up with family and friends. I have a cousin with testicular cancer and it is an easy way to keep up with him on how he is doing. Among many other things.

Social networking is just an opportunity for people to post things that they have no business broadcasting to the world, like their names, addresses, or anything that can be linked in anyway to them. My stupid fricken neighbor just left for a week long trip and posted on facebook that he's gone and see ya next week. WTF.
A hammer has alot of good uses, but I wouldn't give one to my 3 year old niece. People are largely too stupid to use it responsibly enough to have it. We see the result on the news every day, just like my neighbor (he really did that..) and they got robbed, or what have you.
I need a pizza, why don't you post your CC info for me real quick. Pay you back tomorrow. It's undoubtedly happened...
