Try typing on them if you plan to a lot. As much as I want the Droid X I cant stand using screen keyboard so I'm getting a Droid 2 with the real keys.

Rumor is Verizon isn't getting the Samsung Galaxy S II because they'll be getting exclusive launch of the the Samsung Nexus Prime, which arrives soon after the SGS2.

Verizon may also be getting a slightly larger and faster SGS2.

I have a hard time believing that Verizon would go for that, purely because of their policy of keeping bootloaders locked down so damn hard.

I picked up a droid 3. I converted over from a storm 2 9550 and have been an avid blackberry user since 2007. I miss RIM's messenger but I digress!

It is only 3G but I'm not a big downloader so it suits me. I have WiFi at home and I'm on a desktop at work so 4g is not a big deal to me. I'm of the mindset that 4g is a marketing ploy BUT I don't knock people for getting a phone with 4g either. I also prefer a physical keyboard with the option of on screen typing also. Plus seeing droid 1 phones kicking about, I figured the build was tried and true.

I love the slide out keyboard because you preserve the display when interacting with webpages when you are typing.

--Dual Core 1 gig.

--only 512 internal storage but again, that is not a deal breaker for me personally. (Micro SD card NOT inluded)

--1080p recording and 8mp camera. It is not the greatest optics but the HD makes up for it. Another issue I seem to find is that images seem to come out cold as if there is a little too much blue getting in.

--Front facing cam that you can face chat with through a 'fixed' version of skype.

--Front facing cam actually takes nice pictures of your mug if you're into that.

--Rooting now available for the phone.

--Dedicated number row so no more ALT button to type out numbers when using the full keyboard.

--qHD display.

--It is not too big but not too small either. I think it is a tad smaller than the droidx.

Accessories are catching up to the phone so don't expect anything out there besides Otterbox and Qmadix. I'm using the Qmadix and I like the feel of the case. Especially if you want a holster. Otterbox does not and is not planning to release a holstered version for the Droid 3. I work outside and I loved the defender case for my original 8830 blackberry.

Sorry for all the tangents thrown about. There are some decent reviews on the phone on youtube. If you come across a review that bashed the iPhone just turn it off and find another one.

It's 4 months late, but the Galaxy S II has finally been announced in the United States (pretty much everyone else has it already). Supposedly the carriers were not too interested in the phone and dragged their feet.

Really nothing surprising from the announcement today. AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile are getting the phone. Verizon is passing for something better coming about a month later.

The AT&T version is identical to the international version with a 4.27 inch screen. Sprint and T-Mobile however are getting a larger 4.52 inch version. And the T-Mobile version has more rounded corners than the Sprint one.

Sprint and AT&T announced their phones will be available September 16th and 18th. T-Mobile has not given an availability date yet (they aren't even trying to keep customers anymore).

Verizon is skipping this silly late device though for something better. They somehow snagged an exclusive deal to launch the first Android 4.0 phone. It had been called the Samsung Nexus Prime for a while, but now we are being told the name is the Droid Prime. It's a little weird hearing "Samsung Droid", but Verizon owns that Droid name and now they are giving Samsung a chance with the name. But I'm a little confused now if this is still a "Nexus" phone, meaning it's Google development phone and gets updates first. Or it just happens to be the first Android 4.0 phone, but some other "Nexus" Android 4.0 phone comes later.

After being abandoned by Samsung with my Vibrant, I'm not too excited about buying another Samsung phone unless it's "Nexus" version.

Anyway the Droid Prime is coming in October, hopefully there will be more Android 4.0 phones launched soon too (especially if this isn't really a Nexus). So why anyone is buying an Android 2.3 phone in September is beyond me (unless it's free or really cheap).
