Opinion on newegg prefab computers... |
Needing to buy a tower that I can have and be using within the next couple weeks. Want an i7 with 8 gb of ram expandable to 16 at least and a decent graphics card for gaming purposes as well for around or under $1000. Was looking at this one at newegg....

Any opinions on cyberpower brand prefabs? Was loooking at a couple others on there as well but this one was the cheapest. If I go for broke and stretch the $1000 barrier was looking at this one instead since it had a lot nicer graphics card and expandable to 32 gb Ram.

Was wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences buying prefabs from newegg?

I've never had a problem with newegg.
On the subject of ibuypower and cyberpowerpc, I had a pretty bad experience with ibuypower - substituting parts, doa power supply, horrible delivery time, and putrid customer service. There are a significant number of complaints about both companies. You would be far better, if you must buy a prefab, to go with Dell or something similar.
They both have pretty poor reliability records and a google search will net you a lot of articles on them.
Not sure where you are, but try a local store and see what they can do for you.

I was trying to order one from dell through best buy so I can get the 18 month no interest plan but that was three weeks ago and neither can actually confirm if I will ever get it because it is on backorder and they over sold it or something. Can't really get a straight answer out of either. And is the last straw ever using best buy again for anything. Was looking at newegg because they can do 12 months no finance. I basically just need a few months to pay it off but need one quickly unfortunately so it's limiting my options.

I had a friend who used ibuypower once and I forgot what went wrong, but the end result is he would never ever ever use them again.
What about trying to find a small computer store that builds computers to see if they have a financing option.

Since i have not bought a prefab PC in about 8years i cant help you to much. however since 1tb drives are going for 200+ right now, getting all that for 849 isn't a bad deal.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 bought this back 2 almost 3years ago for 89.99. Kind of wish i bought another before this price hike.

I bought a computer from them years ago (think 10ish), it was a solid computer with no problems and at a good price. Maybe I'm the minority, but more likely, the only people that talk about ibuypower are the ones that got screwed over and us happy ones just go on with our lives. Granted, I hear a lot of bad reviews of the place though.

Very true. It could be a vocal minority vs. silent majority type of thing. But I get the feeling that the vocal people aren't really a minority on this one lol.

I agree that you get a skewed ratio of negative feedback on the internet... but it's still great for a 1 for 1 comparison between companies.
When I read Dell feedback it's all... louder than expected, too much bloatware installed, too expensive for what you get, etc...
When I read ibuypower I read Dead on arrival, installed cpu not one advertised, customer service was rude, etc...
To me it's never about the amount of negative feedback... it's about what they are actually saying in that feedback. I have never read feedback as bad as the stuff I keep reading for those two custom PC makers on any other major retailer site. They may not be as bad as it reads... but they still have by far the worst feedback of any company out there
