If true, then I will finally buy the iPad 3 when it comes out as this is what I have been waiting for in a tablet since they originally were announced and the main reason I keep holding back on buying one.
The even cooler thing is that I know the manager for the local "big box store" that sells this stuff and he said he will just hold it for me when it comes out and allow me to pick it up that night. They are not supposed to do it, but whatever.

Such a pain in the ass for us App developers though to account for every freaking version of iOS.

Which is why they may stick with 4:3 aspect ratio. No idea. I always found it sort of dumb that iphone and ipad's don't share the same aspect ratio.

Yeah my CSS and general code has so many forks due to retina and orientation (landscape vs. portrait). You pretty much build your App for only one, then spend a weekend porting it, lol.

I just wonder if Apple's manufactures have the production capacity yet to manufacture these things fast enough to keep the prices the same? Manufactures couldn't keep up with the iPad 2 and it was using the same display as the iPad 1 used a year earlier. This iPad 3 display is completely new.
I hope an iPad 3 with retina display starts at $500. But I have a feeling Apple may have to do something different this year, due to what I would assume is lesser manufacturing capacity of the new type of panel. Something like two iPad 3 models, with a more expensive iPad 3 Pro having the Retina display.
We should find out in less than a month though.

Agreed, which is why I expect them to bump the entry version for the ipad3 to 32gb and then charge $600 for it and keep the ipad2 around for the "cheaper models". It will also make those legions of fans who just got ripped off with an ipad over christmas, less upset.

Another iPad 3 rumor. Seems it will have an A5X processor, not the expected quad core A6 processor. It's speculated the A5X would be a 32nm dual core (believe the A5 is a 45nm chip).
