I still think no matter the resolution on a tablet, eink will be better on the eyes for reading. Especially if you sit in front of a computer at work all day already.

Oh I agree. I have a Kindle for books, but I am thinking of getting electronic magazine subscriptions and I have some electronic comic books I would like to read. Tried doing it on PC monitor, but it pretty much sucks.

A tablet would be nice, but only if it can show a full page while keeping the text large/clear enough to be easy to read.
Originally I was thinking I might have to wait until somebody releases a 13" tablet, but with this resolution the iPad might be able to keep the letters clear clear enough even if the screen size is not quite same as a printed magazine page.

People are making me regret my 16GB decision. I should have went 32GB.

Frankly, they should not have even bothered with a 16GB version (in this day and age, that simply isn't anywhere enough) and took the opportunity to move to a 32/64/128 GB standard.

Got my ipad at 9 am. this morning, then promptly refreshed 116 virtual pc's on accident, so I have not got to play with it much.

Just got my iPad. I'm busy reading all 42 pages of the iTunes user agreement.... haha.. just kidding of course I blindly agreed to it.

Trying to install the Kindle app, it's been optimized for Retina already. So curious to see how reading with this screen looks.

Apparently the App Store is a bit busy. Taking forever just to install the Kindle app.

With everything being in the cloud these days, I hardly use the 16GB.

I was thinking about camping out at a Walmart at midnight and trying to get a 32GB model, then returning my 16GB model to the Apple store. However I decided I didn't want to get stabbed in a Walmart parking lot at midnight...

Actually I just couldn't mentally justify spending an extra $100 for 16GB more flash storage. That's is way overpriced. I'll just save that for the Android tablet I'm probably buying a bit later anyway.

The retina display on this iPad is pretty sweet. Was really curious if it'd really be worth it and I think it is. So far it really shines with surfing the web. I often like to hold my tablet in portrait mode while surfing, it's easier to hold in one hand that while while I scroll or tap links. But in portrait text is smaller and harder to read, so I'd have to zoom in to read. With retina though, everything is so clear, even the tiny text on pages, I can still read very well. Don't really have a need to zoom pages anymore.

I'm comparing my HP Touchpad with CM7 on it, which is a 9.7 1024x768 132 DPI, which isn't that much less DPI than Android 10.1 1280x800 149 DPI. The iPad 3rd Gen is 9.7 2048x1536 264 DPI. And it's just crazy how much cleaner and easier to read web pages are when looking at it on the 132 DPI display, then on the 264 DPI display. Such a huge difference.

In most apps, it's less noticeable, since app fonts are usually already optimized well enough, so it's mostly noticeable when you put the tablet close enough to your face to see pixels.

The Android tablets with 10.1 inch 1920x1200 display have 224 DPI, which is also pretty good. So really looking forward to that a lot more now than before.
