The US is:
* Doing awful per capita, despite having the most wealth in the world (per 2011)
* Includes church donations (aka. catholic douche-tax), though a portion does tend to get forwarded to people who actually need it, true
and the kicker:
* Has such awful social safety mechanisms that "charity" is the only way to help another citizen

America and Ireland always do really well on those things because they always seem to count giving to your own church as charity and no one gives to their own church like the Americans and the Irish.

Some of the things that pass as charity here are silly.One of George Bushes cousins wrote a school book that was so inaccurate and poorly written that they couldn't convince any school district to buy them.So Barbra Bush bought 1/2 of the books a district needed and "donated" them to the school district.She got the tax break and her nephew sold his entire printing because after the school district already had 1/2 of the books they needed and couldn't justify replacing all the books when they were already given half of them....So in the end we paid(50%) via tax dollars to supply our kids with sub standard inaccurate text books and Barbra Bush is on the record as having made a large charitable donation,when in truth she had just screwed the kids in that district over intentionally to protect her nephews business deal.
