Rush was never a terrible band. Unfortunately, Geddy Lee single handily ruined their sound with his awful whiny voice. Lee's voice dragged the band down to obscurity even during their golden era.
A fourth member with a voice that does not suck is all Rush needed.

Some music channel is running the top 100 bands of all time. They just had Rush at #75 right behind the Cure.

Bon Jovi is insipid mediocre hair rock. It is rock without balls meant as a vehicle for their pretty boy front man.
You are not supposed to take them seriously ffs. And to mention them with Rush degrades your opinion into meaninglessness.
Rush is a great rock band. Bon Jovi is Donny Osmond with electric guitar.

I never considered Bon Jovi to be a serious rock band.
I classify them as pop rock I suppose.
You know you are allowed to like music that isn't hard rock, right? I like Shania Twain too, country fans cry about how she isn't 'real' country; it is the same thing as Bon Jovi, it is OK to like pop music. It is generally popular for a reason.

Like? Sure.
Put in your list consistently as a top band? No.
And yes, it's Ok to branch out. I like heavy AND metal, punk AND thrash.
I also like some early alternatives. The Jam for instance. Talk about underrated.
