Most of them are missing real tears. It was pretty funny watching so many of them weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth yet no tears falling. That place is messed up.

I don't know. It's obviously a cultural thing unique to NK. A lot of comparisons are made between the Dear Leader and a religious figure since there is no organized religion in the country. Also a lot of it is overacted in order to make an impression on their peers and, perhaps more importantly, government officials.
