TOR is the WoW killer
Actually I thought about it, and this could be a long term contender if they start spitting out some raid/high level content pretty quickly. I don't think it will supplant wow, but it could be competition for sure.

Why play an MMO solo?
Stupid players.
fair question - i think i just like the feel of a virtual world with other players, and like the flexibility to be able to play with others if/when i feel like it - but don't want to have to be dependent on it to make progress in what limited time i have for gaming nowadays.

Forced grouping is what makes MMOs great. If you are looking for awesome single player content, then play single player games.
I have found myself so turned off by the lack of community in the latest round of games. DAOC was the last and best game that had a good sense of community. WAR had similar, but it was only because I hooked up with a bunch of people I knew from DAOC.
Rift had a potential for community with all the grouping required for Rift events, but it never manifested.

If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Elo thinks what makes MMOs great is being able to show off your pink dress to everyone.

speaking of which, TOR separating the stats from the gear in the form of stats simply being modifications that can be interchanged may just be my favorite part of the game
i just got a sweet looking chestpiece that i could potentially wear the entirety of my toons life

These story lines are compelling. Last night I played until 3 am. I had to see how things turn out with a Sith Inquisitor (Assassin) I rolled. You really cant go Sith and Light side. It just doesn't fit. However, my conception of the Dark side is more than just taking the obvious selfish choice. There is a real dark side, some of the game designers could tap into , if they knew what it was.
This game take a computer with resources, though. If you cannot play, then enjoy what you can play. It is expensive chasing technology. I had to buy my youngest son a new laptop. I bought him a new one two years ago. So, I guess it was time. He is a college student. I tried to explain work-life balance. we all need to learn this lesson.

This is one of the most annoying things about the game. The graphics are NOT advanced at all, but it still runs like crap and takes forever to load stuff even on a fast PC.
