I was reading a magazine in the hair salon yesterday and ooking at the price tags of a suit. They were priced above $2000.00 I really would never spend that much on a suit. I googled and found this Forbes article:

People can rationalize any purchase in a variety of ways, really it's just a pathetic status symbol.

It doesnt matter what you wear if youre good looking with the right attitude - any suit will work.
A nice suit though will make up for other things you might lack - itll make you look better.
Edit: btw to a lot of people $500 is a lot of money to spend on a suit - $250 will fnd you an ok suit too.

It depends on your income and wealth.
I buy 300-500 suits and have them tailored. I used to use Men's Wearhouse but have found their overall quality suspect. A well made well tailored suit is worth the money. Now if I had boatloads of money?
I'd buy $2000 Armani suits. You bet. The price is inflated but you can't dismiss the quality of a suit like that.
Then again if I had that kind of money I'd spend $3000 to fly to Seoul and get those $2000 suits fully tailored for $500 or less, saving extra money for Asian hookers!

I like that I do my board meetings in jeans, tshirt, and steel toed boots, then drive off to some remote location and hop on a chopper to fly to remote comm sites....I own one suit and four dress shirts total.

I have found Men's Wearhouse suits need to be carefully chosen to get a bargain, too. They have a lot of junk mixed in with some quality.

Suits for me are a tactical weapon. I don't generally wear them, but when I am wearing them I'm generally in front of people who breathe very expensive air. For that reason I only own 3 or so suits at a time, but they're the $600-$750 tailored variety.
I COULD put a couple $1500 suits in the closet, but it is an awful waste considering I am lucky to wear any suit 5-7 times a year. If I need something that heavy-duty, I'm probably going to be renting a tux.

I'm one of the few people in the Navy who has to wear a suit daily. So I have around 8 suits, I think the most I've spent is around $500, it was a waste. Then again there are people where I work who sport the $2000+ suits and you can really tell the difference.

My suit is more a shroud of awesome, it's less a suit of armor.
I pay way to much for my suits, but I wear them all the time.. Both at work and when I'm out.

Why would you wear a $2000 suit to work unless youre the CEO and want to show off?
Even then as the CEO, you cant come in to the office in your ferrari unless you want to annoy a lot of the employees.
My suit is from hugo boss - if you include, shirt, tie, shoes - its around $1000. I only wear it to special events like weddings though.
the stuff in magazines is to get you to spend money (advertising) - its not realistic work clothes.
