Well the resolutions I think are going up for sure, 16:9 is just the aspect ratio for wide screen. They're not going up like they used to do because we're honestly reaching a tipping point in personal computer performance. Even some games these days are starting to scale back their requirements to make them more marketable to more users other than just extreme gamers
I should probably say I wasn't trying to build an extreme machine, this was just over 790$ after rebates and I wanted to have a marketable parts to sell back next time I do a build. It is defiantly fast though and I defiantly wouldn't need SLi or higher memory on the GPU

That's very close to the system I'm using now, it'll keep you happy. The only comment I have is that I agree with getting a board that can run SLI or Xfire. You might not use it this year, but it'll keep your system gaming much longer when all you'll need for the next couple years is cheap video upgrades. It's amazing how much better a couple of $150 cards in SLI are than a single $300 (or $500 for that matter).

The aspect ratio is decreasing the total resolution though. From 1920x1200 (16:10) to 1920x1080(16:9). Screen gets 10% shorter.
Same with 2560x1600 vs 2560x1440.
Heck, if someone made big 4:3 LCDs, I'd buy those.

Thats pretty close to my specs i just upgraded to for gw2. I've got 16gb ram and a 2gb 560 instead

Oh I have 16 gb also, meant to put a (2X) in front of that

Good choices, those components are well matched to eachother!! Should be a smooth system.
Imo just forget about SLI/xfire, get a better vid card a couple of years down the line and save yourself a lot of configration headaches, hassle and dissapointments.

Its not all that hard. But man its great. I over clocked em too though. Wish that motherboards would spread the cards a little more for more air to flow through. I mean I got more fans and all that but still. For what hes gonna be doing 1 gtx 560 sc with 2 gigs of dd5 is perfect. I doubt hes gonna be over clocking. I just didnt get a ssd yet. I will when I reformat next.

in the benchmarking charts having 1 gb or 2gb didn;t seem to make a diffrence.
and running one good card was often more cost effective then having 2 cards in sli, while maintaining or exceeded the sli performance
in short ignore the newbs that want to do sli to be cool
they arn;t
its still computers and it still makes them loser nerds
