Israel is a religious state that doesn't even allow interfaith marriage between Jews and other religions. If you want to get married to someone of another faith you have to fly to a different country to do it because Israel's laws say Jews can only marry other Jews. It is actually less progressive in this respect than nearly any of its neighbors.
Israel is not like the United States. If that was the point of the thread it's correct.

it's seriously messed up - both the president and prime minister of Israel have condemned this group and encouraged people to demonstrate against them in the protests that sprung up among the population.
it's even divided out the more moderate people in the ultra-orthodox sects who have come out and condemned this as well.
zealots suck.
Hey when it comes to social engineering you can't beat the Germans I bet they have some sort of solution to this problem.

What is really ironic is that if a Jewish girl in America got spit on, you'd have CAMERA and the ADL climbing over themselves on the mainstream news channels demanding legal action be brought against the people who assaulted that girl. But if it's Jews spitting on Jews in Israel: "Uh, yea...you guys should totally protest that osmenthing. I'll uh...be over there if you need me."
Nobody every criticized Israel for not being Hypocritical.
