I'm planning on hocking my ipad 2 and then buying a new one soon. The next ipad comes out in March and will finally have decent screen resolution.

I know that the future belongs to droids and possibly MS portables, but i don't think we're there yet. Should i make the jump to droid (or windoze) now, or stick with Apple and wait a couple cycles?

It is fine that ipad3 will sport higher res, faster cpu and gpu but I think the one thing that is majorly lacking for tablets is the use of a stylus. and I dont mean the crappy stylus technology out now, but a next gen stylus that has an ultra fine point and does not pixelize the writing at all. Real pen and paper experience! This will be the only feature I will upgrade for.

do ipads have expandable memory? if not...why would you even consider buying one for $600?

A better stylus would be nice, but i am not sure there is a lot of demand outside of artists. Bluetooth keyboard + Pages is what most people want.
Still, it would be an interesting side market for a 3rd party vendor.

People would like to take notes with their ipad. There are some really slick handwriting and notetaking apps but you must use your finger.
Taking notes with your tablet is the only ting missing imo.

Cloud is storing your stuffs on some unknown server over the internet.
To be honest I much prefer removable media but cloud has its advantages.

i use it with my pc and my android
