Ha, you noobs don't know the precursors to crap like Facebook started well over a decade ago.

On a ironic note, the main one where I learned how entrapping and kleptomaniac these social media programs could be for commercial interests was an Israeli start up.

Lets see which of you dim bulbs can Google your way to the company first.

I always thought that it was a Mossad trick! How easy it made it for them to watch millions.

The one issue I have is... Well, let me give you an example.

Vinny T (8:04) : I love New York; despite the gym being so crowded no one noticed that I dropped a bar on my chest while benching. That coulda been embarrassing!
Barbara T (8:05) : OMG honey, are you ok??

Mommmmmm!!

But seriously this company was a very dirty little outfit. I'll explain what they did. In the original versions of the program it was a pretty slick interface (at the time) for setting up internet friendships but what this outfit did forever stuck in my memory. You could naturally make your own settings private but after the program reached about quarter million users, this company made it so that your friends contact list was exposed to them (the company).

So the trick was that you used the service and a friend entered all of your contact data (phone, address, email, etc), that contact data was exposed to the company for their purposes.

This was all long before Facebook, so way back then I made up my mind I would never again go anywhere near any of these programs and I don't even bother giving my email to most people because I know that most people are too ignorant to BBC their mail when they start up their stupid chain email fetishes.

There is not much that I hate more than being marketed to or having my personal info sold like I have no say in the matter or that it is not a valuable commodity to me. All of these companies suck donkey balls and many of them over the years lied many times about their privacy policies.

Since jan 1st, I've added 17 new people. So I meet on average one new person a day that I'm interested in keeping contact with.

Cause setting up a phony email address would be too difficult?

Then there would be no point in giving someone your email in the first place. Again, it was the friends contact list that was exposed. Try reading & comprehending what I wrote.
