You tried it in 2009 when it first came out.. It's a lot better now

If you would have read you would have seen that I sniped better than he did. in fact he logged off and on because i kept killing him in one shot. So I guess if there is something that keeps you from being one shotted he may have had that. but whatevs. the only learning I need to do is learning to afk out for twenty hours a week to "gear up" freaking stupidest mechanic possible in an FPS.

Either you missed or he lagged because I do not believe there is anything that stops a headshot from one shotting. It does 450 damage which takes out anyone in one shot. I think Heavy might have an item that somehow allows them to survive a sniper shot but I'm not sure.
As far as I know the Equalizer for Soldier is the only direct upgrade in the game. All of the items have penalties along with the bonuses. The TF2 gear is mostly cheeky and none of it is important.

First off you don't need gear. All it adds is different types of play styles to different classes that is situational at best. I pretty much play sniper exclusively, and the only item I use that isn't stock is the razorback. If you didn't kill him from a head shot its most likely not even because of gear at all. Since the only hp item a sniper can get is that gator shield which is 25 health. You probably shot him in the head with a low charge when he was over healed by a medic, and he shot you in a chest with a full charge. A full charge chest shot can one shot quiet a few light classes as long as they aren't health boosted by a medic. It happens. Look at the sniper items on the wiki if you don't believe me.

Also even if it was a huge problem, you could just simply craft the item you want instead of waiting 20 hours.

I guess it is possible he had that crappy sniper set, which makes it where you can't be headshotted, but I have never seen anyone use it. Since the gun in the set makes it so you can't get criticals on headshots either, and the gun does the same damage full charge as the stock sniper rifle. Which pretty much makes it an even duel at that point, except the fact hes going to have a hard time killing other people which is why no one uses that garbage.

It means he was a shitty sniper that used a piss cannon and can only do body shots because it can't get headshots. It's a set for low skill snipers that can't get headshots and don't want to be headshot. If somebody has the croc hat on, just do a body shot.
